a. EPB reception
After any new installation or replacement, a certified EPB heating advisor (through Frigotec) must validate your system within one month of commissioning. If the installation is not compliant, you have 5 months to rectify it.
b. Logbook
A logbook must be kept up to date to record all activities: installation, validation, inspections, maintenance. This document can be paper or electronic.
Maintenance and regular inspections
a. Inspections and maintenance
Gas boilers: maintenance at least every 2 years.
Oil boilers: maintenance at least once a year.
All certificates must be kept for 5 years in your logbook.
Any deficiency detected during the inspection must be corrected within 5 months, with notification to Frigotec.
b. Energy assessment
Before January 1, 2024, and then every 5 years, have an assessment performed by a certified Frigotec advisor. This assessment evaluates energy performance, legal compliance, and provides optimization or replacement recommendations.
Boiler room: technical characteristics
a. Fire prevention
For gas boilers: the room cannot be located below level -1 without Frigotec’s approval.
All boilers must have an emergency stop device outside or near the door.
The walls and doors of the boiler room must provide specific fire resistance (walls/ceilings 1 hour, fire door 30 minutes).
Suitable fire extinguishers must be present, and no flammable materials should be stored.
b. Ventilation
Your boiler room must have adequate high and low ventilation, in accordance with standard NBN B 61-001, ensuring proper combustion and removal of stale air.
Exemptions can be requested from Frigotec for boiler rooms with less than 400 kW.
c. Chimney
Combustion gas emissions must be vented through the roof, more than 8 meters from any neighboring window or air intake, unless an exemption is approved by Frigotec.
d. Meters
The main gas and electricity meters must be installed outside the boiler room.
e. Large installations (power ≥ 1 MW)
Compliance with NOx and CO emission limits.
Sampling and analysis of emissions to be carried out shortly after commissioning.
Future work: necessary authorizations
Before any modification (relocation, addition, replacement of a boiler, or change of fuel), you must obtain approval from Frigotec.
Your request must mention:
The name and address of the permit holder.
The references of the environmental permit.
No work may begin before receiving official authorization.
